Welcome Cocktail | ||||||||
On the evening of 15 October 2013, FINEXA invited the international participants from IAFEI-member institutes to a welcome cocktail at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Adam Maciejewski, president of the Exchange, hosted the cocktail. He and FINEXA president, Paweł Domosławski gave short welcome speeches. During the two hour event, FINEXA representatives met for the first time their colleagues from foreign CFO institutes, mainly from Asia and Europe. Later, participants proceeded to “Ale Gloria”, a nearby restaurant, for a dinner jointly sponsored by IAFEI and CFO Insight. |

Congress | ||||||||
The two congress days, October 16th/17th, brought together around 300 delegates from 28 countries, which made it not only the biggest, but the most international CFO congress ever held in Poland. Around 200 corporate finance executives (half of them from Poland) and 100 representatives of organizers, sponsors and media had the opportunity to join one of the 24 offered events (speeches, panel discussions, workshops), to network and inform themselves about the latest trends in finance management. | ||||||||

Highlights have been the keynote speeches by the European Central banker Frank Moss and Manfred Schepers (EBRD), panel discussions with Top-CFOs from all parts of the world and the Polish Economy Forum with the economists Rafał Antczak (Deloitte), Janusz Grobicki (Adam Smith Center) and Dariusz Kacprzyk (BGK). The unique workshop-concept, in which state-of-the-art topics have been presented by sponsors like BDO, Codec, Deloitte or Kuke and practitioners/finance directors e.g. Jan Brozik from ČEZ, Sylwester Flaga from Prologis, Artur Janiec from Pepsi Co, Laurent Guillermin from EDF, Jacek Owczarek from Eurocash, Robert M. Nowak from Autostrada Wielkopolska, Libor Němeček from Agrofert Holding,Rafał Krawczyk from Unilever, Krzyszt of Matuszewski from Bank Ochrony Środowiskaor Roman Szyszko from Energa gained high attention and appreciation by the participants. |

The highlight of the 43rd IAFEI World Congress in Warsaw was the grand gala dinner, given in the prestigious Ufficio Primo building at the Wspólna-street. 250 participants, among them members of the jury of “Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii” (Adam Budnikowski, Paweł Domosławski, Adam Maciejewski, Alicja Kornasiewicz, Krzysztof Obłój, Henryk Orfinger) made the event an unforgettable night. The dinner, sponsored by ING Bank, took three hours and included two award ceremonies: The European business magazine CFO Insight awarded the “CFO of the year” to the Czech EP Holding CFO Pavel Horský. In a second ceremony, the FINEXA-award “Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii” was given to Marek Belka, president of Polands National Bank. The laudation was given by Jacek Socha, a former treasury minister. After dinner, guests met at the bar room and stayed until midnight. | ||||||||
