Gabriele Fontanesi - Italy
Chairman

Gabriele, born in 1943, married with two daughters, holds a degree in Economics and an Executive MBA. He is also a Certified Public Auditor.

At the beginning of his career he joined Del Monte Foods Corporation (USA) in Italy and he became Financial Director in 1973. In 1980 he joined the August Oetker Group (Germany ) in Italy as CFO and he left as Managing Director for Finance in 1987.

In 1982 he joined ANDAF, the Italian Association of Financial Executives, as Director and responsible of the Emilia Romagna Chapter as well as of the IAFEI Planning Committee.

He joined thereafter in 1987 the Quaker Oats Group (USA) in Italy as CFO and Director of the Italian Companies. In 1995 following the acquisition of CIGA Spa by ITT Sheraton, he became the Vice President and CFO of the Starwood Group in Italy and Member of the various Boards of the Group. He continues, today to cooperate with Starwood as Director and Advisor of its various Italian legal entities.

In 1996 he was appointed IAFEI Vice Chairman and became Chairman the following year. In 2003 he has been appointed by ANDAF as Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the XXXV IAFEI 2004 World Congress in Florence, Italy.
