Helmut Schnabel - Germany

IAFEI Chairman

Helmut Schnabel has been actively involved in the Association of Chief Financial Officers Germany (GEFIU) since 1972. He has been and still is the Chairman of the Board of Management of GEFIU since 2002.
In 1969 Mr. Schnabel started his business career by working for a year in American Can Corporation in New York City, USA. He thereafter started his career in the Treasury of Hoechst AG. In 1985 he became Director Credit Secretariat as well as Deputy - Head of Treasury. From 1993 until 1999 he was Head of Group Corporate Finance and a member of supervisory boards of numerous companies and sub-groups of Hoechst Group. Parallel to that, he was member of the board of management for more than ten years of the pension insurance of the employees of Hoechst - Group in Germany, mutual insurance company, where he was head of asset management.

Mr. Schnabel is presently the managing owner of Asecuris Asset Management Advisory GmbH, Frankfurt am Main. This has been created in 2003 through a Management Buy Out from Swiss Re Asset Management Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH, Frankfurt am Main. Asecuris is a small financial services company. It advises on and markets external asset management for institutional investors. Its most important cooperation partner is the US-American financial services group Wells Fargo, for the asset management division of which Asecuris is doing the marketing and client service in central Europe. Daniel Burlin – France

IAFEI Vice-Chairman

Daniel Burlin is a board member of the French Financial Institute DFCG (Association Nationale des Directeurs Financiers et de Contrôle de Gestion ) and is a member of its Nominating Committee. He is Past-President of this institute and organized the IAFEI World Congress in Paris in 1989.
Aside from his Engineering degree, Daniel Burlin also holds a doctorate in Management. He started his career with Saint-Gobain then Schlumberger as controller, then joined the aerospace and defense company EADS, successively as Finance Director for the Aircraft Division, Senior Executive Vice-President for Corporate Finance, then CFO and General Secretary of Euromissile, the Franco-German joint-venture of EADS and Daimler-Benz.
Daniel Burlin joined the Technip Group in 1991 as CFO, Member of the Executive Committee, and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2002. Technip ranks among the top five corporations in the field of oil and gas and petrochemical engineering. It has more than 22000 employees worldwide and has first class industrial and naval assets.
In 1994, Daniel Burlin organized the successful IPO for Technip on Euronext then on NYSE in 2001.
Daniel Burlin is a member of the French Executive Committee of the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). He is a board member of the French Foundation for Management (FNEGE) and the French "Institut de Hautes Finances "(IHFI) and a member of the French Institute of Board Members.

Dr. Horst Laubscher - Germany

IAFEI Executive Director

Dr. Horst Laubscher, born 1948 in Speyer, Germany, is a seasoned academic person. He has a degree in Business Administration and Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany and a doctorate degree in Finance and Investment.

Dr. Laubscher has been a long-standing member of the German Financial Executives Institute. He is a member of the Advisory Council of the German Association of Masters of Business Administration and Engineering (VWI).

Dr. Laubscher has held leading professional finance positions in large German corporate groups (Metallgesellschaft AG, Linde AG, Klöckner & Co AG, Deutsche Telekom AG). He has also held numerous positions in supervisory boards of subsidiaries of German industrial groups in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Currently, he is engaged as consultant for corporations. He also teaches young financial professionals from developed and developing countries. He leads the annual seminar for young financial senior professionals of the Association of Chief Financial Officers Germany. Recently, Dr. Laubscher was awarded the title Professor from a Hungarian University, where he occasionally teaches.

Alfredo B. Parungao - Philippines

IAFEI Secretary

Alfredo Parungao, a Certified Public Accountant, graduated summa cum laude from the Far Eastern University and attended the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School . He was President of the Financial Executives Institute (Finex) of the Philippines in 1983, and has continued to be actively involved in Finex projects and activities.

Mr. Parungao is a member of numerous boards, which includes the Insular Life Assurance Co., Ltd, the first and the largest Filipino life insurance company in the Philippines , where he also chairs the Budget and Audit Committee. He is the Chief of Staff of the Chairman of the Social Security Commission , the governing body of the Social Security System, the Government-run pension fund for workers in the private sector. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Philippine National Oil Company. He has extensive experience in various other fields, such as real estate, telecommunications, manufacturing and the academe. He is a member of the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards Council, the body that promulgates financial reporting standards in the Philippines, in harmony with the International Accounting Standards. He is actively involved and has taken leadership in professional and civic organizations like the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Management Association of the Philippines and the Rotary Club of Makati.

Mr. Parungao is President of his own company, the Ligaya Management Corporation, which is engaged in property development and investments.

Victor Y. Lim Jr. - Philippines

Asian Area President

Mr. Victor Y. Lim, Jr. earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and his Masters Degree in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.

Mr. Lim was President in 1995 of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), where he has been an active member of since 1976. It was during his term as President that the USAID disbursed a grant of $5M through FINEX for capital markets development in the Philippines.

Professionally, Mr. Lim is the Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Credit Committee of Asia United Bank (AUB), a joint venture (Filipino-Taiwanese) full service commercial bank. Although established only in 1998, AUB has proven to be highly successful in its short existence, generating a high 19% ROE (Return On Equity) in 2006, and a low 1.93% non performing loans (NPL).

Mr. Lim started his professional banking career with CITIBANK in 1970, and moved to Rizal Commercial Bank (a joint venture Filipino-Japanese bank) from 1974 to 1996. He also helped establish Robinsons Savings Bank as its inaugural President and CEO from 1997 to 1999.

Mr. Lim is also President of Yuchengco-Lim Development Corporation, a family owned real estate company. He was previously a Director of various companies in the financial and manufacturing fields such as Bank of America (BA) Savings Bank, Malayan Zurich Insurance Company, Philippine Electric Corporation and Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation. From 1985-1996, he was also President of Financial Brokers Insurance Agency.

Marc Ugolini - France

European Area President

Marc Ugolini is a Board Member of DFCG, the French Financial Executives Institute (Association Nationale des Directeurs Financiers et de Contrôle de Gestion). In his professional career, he is presently the International Finance Director of Skyworks Solutions, a semiconductor company dedicated to mobile communications, and is based in Sophia-Antipolis, France. Prior to this responsibility, he held similar positions with Conexant, Rockwell Semiconductors, Shiva, Wellfleet Communications and Millipore after starting his career in Internal Audit and in Merchant Banking.
Mr Ugolini graduated from ESSEC and holds a DECS and an MBA degree with Distinction of INSEAD. Mr Ugolini is a Finance lecturer for the Master of Management Accounting & Control at EDHEC, Nice.
Since 1994 Mr Ugolini has been actively involved in DFCG of which he successively presided over the French Riviera Chapter (1998-2003), before serving as DFCG Vice-Chairman for two mandates (2004-2005). At the end of 2005, he was elected to the IAFEI Executive Committee. Mr Ugolini is also involved in the local community and in particular has been elected a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industrie of Nice Cote d'Azur for the period 2005-2009.
